Thousands of gymnasts to compete in Milwaukee invitational

More than 6,000 people will pour into Milwaukee this weekend for the 12th annual Midwest Twisters Gymnastics Invitational at the Wisconsin Center.

The invitational, presented by Midwest Twisters and Hal’s Harley-Davidson, will run from Friday, Feb. 7, through Sunday, Feb. 9, and will feature approximately 2,000 youth gymnasts.

Boys and Girls teams from seven states will compete in the event, representing the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Programs, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Amateur Athletic Union, and YMCA clubs.

Midwest Twisters Gymnastics offers gymnastics classes and training for children in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties. Classes cater to toddlers, teens and kids in between.

“At a time when child obesity is constantly in the news, it is our goal to promote general wellness and physical fitness through our many programs for children of all ages at locations across southeastern Wisconsin,” said Kathy Nelson, a coach and owner of the Midwest Twisters. “With the generous support of families and the business community, thousands of children participate in Midwest Twisters programs. The invitational provides an enriching and exciting experience for these talented young athletes.”
