Milwaukee-based freshwater research hub The Water Council has opened a second office in Madison.
The organization has opened the new office to increase ties with Madison’s entrepreneurial community, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and state government, while expanding its presence into south central Wisconsin.
Scott Mosley, director of investment strategies, will lead The Water Council’s Madison branch.
“The opening of the Madison office represents the first of a series of steps expanding the presence for The Water Council,” said Dean Amhaus, president and chief executive officer of The Water Council. “We recognize the need to have a presence in Madison to take advantage of the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, engage with investors, enlist the state government, and to have access to one of the world’s leading research universities.”
Those future expansion plans include more engagement in the Chicago area, as well as adding staff in other areas of the country to assist with The Water Council’s new role as the North American headquarters of the Alliance for Water Stewardship, Amhaus said.
“I don’t know when, but we will have to start looking at whether it’s staffing or contracting with individuals in other parts of the country to be able to fulfill the need of really helping those large water users in other parts of the U.S. and Canada,” he said.
