J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. recently began work to build The Moderne, a $55 million, 30-story building that will be located southwest of Old World Third Street and Juneau Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. The developer for the project is Rick Barrett. The building will have 203 apartments, 14 condominiums and first floor retail space. The financing package for the project closed in late December. The AFL-CIO Investment Trust provided a $42 million loan, backed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s 221(d)4 program, and the city of Milwaukee provided a $9.3 million loan.
