The Blast Shop specializes in powder coating and media blasting services for the industrial, heavy machinery, commercial, and municipal industries.

The family-owned company was started in 1998 by president and owner Mike Clark. His wife, Nancy Clark, serves as vice president; his children, David Clark, operations manager, and Melissa Clark, chief executive officer, are also involved in the day-to-day operations.

The company is currently expanding into a 22,000-square-foot facility in the Business Park of Kenosha. The facility will be fully operational by the end of 2014.

According to Melissa, the extra space will allow the company to expand its customer base and provide more room for operations and equipment.

The company plans to invest approximately $350,000 in new state-of-the-art media blasting and powder coating equipment—including the largest indoor blast booth in southeastern Wisconsin.

The new equipment will allow for increased productivity, better lead times and better quality finished products.

Additionally, the expansion will create more jobs in the community, bringing the company’s total number of employees to 40, she said.

The Blast Shop also houses a second, 16,000-square-foot cooling systems operation called IEA LLC.

“The Blast Shop is dedicated to helping make Kenosha an ideal place to live, work and play,” Melissa said.

The Blast Shop is the only powder coating company in Kenosha, and focuses on bringing in business from surrounding cities and increasing dollars spent in the community, she added.
