Brown Deer-based Traffic and Parking Control Co. Inc. plans to transform the former headquarters of Adaptive Micro Systems into its first innovation center. The 70,000-square-foot building at 7840 N. 86th St. in Milwaukee will focus on product advancement and the company’s expansion into dynamic message signs and intelligent transportation system solutions. TAPCO closed on the purchase of the building in late September. The company paid $1.6 million for the property, which has an assessed value of nearly $2.6 million, according to state and county records. The building was previously the headquarters of Adaptive Micro Systems, which TAPCO acquired out of receivership last year. The real estate sale also came out of the receivership process, according to court records. "Adding a dedicated innovation center to the TAPCO portfolio enables us to provide our customers with even more cutting-edge solutions for maximizing safety," said Eric Stangel, managing director of TAPCO. "We remain committed to our customers, as well as our industry-leading suppliers and distributors, as we grow." The company plans to begin building modifications in 2021.
