Suzy’s Cream Cheesecakes Inc., a producer of cheesecakes and other desserts, is considering plans to move from St. Francis to Oak Creek.
Port Washington-based Ansay Development has submitted a proposal to purchase and renovate a 44,200-square-foot building at 9911 S. Howell Ave. in Oak Creek. Under that plan the building would be leased by Suzy’s Cream Cheesecakes, which would move there from St. Francis.
“The growth of Suzy’s business in the past year has stretched our operations to our capacity,” said Mark Kirchner, president and CEO of Suzy’s Cream Cheesecakes. “We are currently evaluating a number of options as we look to meet demand. The facility in Oak Creek proposed by Ansay Development is one of those options, and we are excited about the possibilities that the Oak Creek facility would provide by allowing Suzy’s to relocate our current operations, modestly grow our production capacity in the near term and leave plenty of room in the facility to grow operations in the future.”
Ansay Development has also proposed a new facility in the village of Belgium in Ozaukee County for Suzy’s.
Suzy’s Cream Cheesecakes is currently located at 1775 E. Bolivar Ave. in St. Francis. It was founded in Milwaukee in 1983 and moved to St. Francis in 1992.
In 2011, Suzy’s announced plans to move to Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley, but later dropped those plans.
Howell Avenue Oak Creek LLC, an affiliate of Ansay Development, is seeking a $2.2 million industrial development revenue tax-exempt bond from the city of Oak Creek for the project. If approved by the city’s Common Council, the loan must be repaid by the company.
