Summit Credit Union to open new Waukesha branch

Madison-based Summit Credit Union plans to open a new branch at 1103 Spring City Lane in Waukesha on March 23.

The credit union, which merged with West Allis-based Greater Milwaukee Credit Union in March 2014, is building the 3,400-square-foot branch to replace its current Waukesha location, at 2140 W. St. Paul Ave. That branch will close on March 21.

Madison-based Strang Inc. is constructing the new facility, which will have a mostly glass façade and will include a drive-through teller area with canopy. Inside, teller pods will replace traditional teller lines, which Summit feels create a more welcoming environment.

Jamie Van Wagoner has been hired to serve as branch manager at the new Waukesha location. She has 15 years of banking experience, most recently as assistant vice president, bank office manager at Bank Mutual in Greenfield. The location will have six total employees, including those from the current Waukesha branch and two new hires.

“The new branch reflects Summit’s ongoing commitment to serving and bringing  value to our members, as well as our support of the Milwaukee-area communities,” said  Kim Sponem, chief executive officer and president of Summit Credit Union. “Our membership base has been growing exponentially in the Waukesha area, and the new, larger branch will help us keep up with demand. We are also thrilled with our new location, which offers a drive up and enhanced visibility.”
