Summerfest attendance increased slightly in 2014

Milwaukee World Festival Inc. has reported Summerfest 2014 attendance was 851,879, up 1.4 percent over 840,356 in 2013, despite unseasonably cool and foggy conditions.

Food and beverage sales were up 6 percent over last year, while corporate sales were up 6.4 percent year-over-year. The event had 94 sponsors and media partners in 2014, including new partnerships with Southwest Airlines, 2015 PGA Championship, Bridgestone, Pizza Hut, Subway and McDonalds.

About 2,200 seasonal employees worked 140,000 hours during the 11-day festival. Another 400 volunteers and drivers contributed 5,400 hours of assistance.

More than 800 acts performed more than 1,000 shows during Summerfest.
