Stock market takes breather after record run

The U.S. stock market took a holiday breather today after closing the first quarter Thursday with the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average standing at record highs.

 

The S&P 500 rose to a new record of 1,569.19, up 10 percent in the quarter.
 
The Dow closed Thursday at a record 14,578.54.
 
The largest local gainers Thursday were Fiserv Inc. (up $1.54 to $87.86), Rockwell Automation Inc. (up $1.31 to $86.35) and Snap-on Inc. (up $1.01 to $82.70).
