Stock market shows no signs of fatigue

The U.S. stock market was on pace to add marginal gains in thin trading this morning to Thursday’s record highs.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 29.54 points this morning to Thursday’s record close of 16,479.88, putting it on track to reach a record close for 51st time this year. The S&P 500  gained 2 points to 1,843.65, and the Nasdaq Composite  was up 3.11 points  at 4,167.97.

Stocks rallied after data showed a sharp fall in national initial weekly unemployment claims.

The largest local gainers this morning were Magnetek Inc. (up $1.19 to $23.69) and Badger Meter Inc. (up 43 cents to $55.60).
