As a student at D.C. Everest High School, Steve Smith told his guidance counselor he wanted to be a truck driver. When the counselor insisted he should attend college, Smith responded that he would as long as it wasn’t to become a teacher.
But Smith later found his way to a long and fruitful career in education, which will end March 13 when he steps down as Stevens Point campus dean for Mid-State Technical College. Smith, 58, has worked for MSTC for 35 years and has served as campus dean since January 1996.
