Sports Authority will keep its Milwaukee area stores open

Retailer will close 140 stores nationwide

Sporting goods retailer Sports Authority will keep all four of its Milwaukee area stores open.

Those stores, located in Brookfield, Delafield, Greenfield and at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale, were not on the list of stores that will be closed that was filed with a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

Sports Authority announced earlier this week that it has filed petitions to restructure under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The Englewood, Colo.-based company, known as TSA Stores Inc., said it plans to close 140 stores and two distribution centers in Denver and Chicago.

Most of the store closures are planned outside of the Midwest, but the list does include 11 stores in Illinois, two in Ohio, one in Michigan and one in Minnesota.
