SPiN Milwaukee is changing its name to Evolution Milwaukee Gastro Pong (EVO) as it ends its three-year relationship with New York City-based SPiN Galactic, according to an announcement the venue made on Wednesday.
The ping-pong-themed bar and restaurant, located in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward at 233 E. Chicago St., plans to become an independent venture in order to “maintain a strong commitment to the Milwaukee community,” according to information released by the venue.
Owners Scott and Susanne Mayer, who are residents of Franklin, launched SPiN Milwaukee in September 2010 after consulting SPiN New York about adopting the brand and introducing it to Wisconsin.
The name change will be effective on Tuesday, Feb. 11. With the name change, the venue’s members will receive new membership cards and the bar will re-evaluate its food and drink menus.
