Waukesha-based Spancrete played a key role in last Friday’s reconstruction of the Rawson Avenue Bridge.
Spancrete’s Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) was used to put new bridge decks into place. This was the first time this technology was used in Wisconsin.
“The new Rawson Avenue Bridge is a key component of the I-94 north-south project, and we are proud to have been selected to be part of this structure,” said Alan Antoniewicz, COO and President of Spancrete.
Two bridge decks that were constructed adjacent to I-94 were moved into place using the SPMT technology. The SPMT’s platforms were positioned underneath the Spancrete precast concrete girders to lift the decks and carry them into position over north-south bound traffic lanes, and lower the pieces in proper position on the bridge’s structural supports.
