Sonic franchisee plans to open 20 restaurants in Milwaukee area

A franchisee of Oklahoma City-based Sonic Corp. plans to open 20 of the drive-in restaurants in the Milwaukee area.

Wichita, Kan.-based Twilight Burgers LLC, a franchisee of Oklahoma City-based Sonic Corp. plans to open 20 of the drive-in restaurants in the Milwaukee area during the next seven years, said Jenny Sparks, senior director of facilities for Twilight Burgers. The first Sonic restaurant in the Milwaukee area will open in February at 2080 Miller Park Way, West Milwaukee. Twilight Burgers has also proposed a Sonic restaurant at 1200 W. Sunset Dr., Waukesha, in the Shoppes at Fox River retail center that is being developed by Opus North Corp. The Waukesha Sonic has yet to be approved by city officials, however. Sonic has about 3,400 locations, most in southern states. Sonic restaurants have no indoor seating area. Customers can eat in their cars or go through the drive-thru. The size of Sonic restaurant buildings are 1,800 to 2,100 square feet, Sparks said.
