Some SC Johnson products banned in Russia

Russia’s consumer protection watchdog has banned some SC Johnson household cleaning products that were made in the Ukraine, according to a report from The Moscow Times on Friday.

The banned brands include Mr. Muscle household cleaners, Toilet Duck toilet cleaners, Kiwi shoe care products, Glade air fresheners and Raid insect killers.

The Federal Consumer Protection Service reportedly found that the products did not meet “hygienic requirements concerning irritant effect.”

SC Johnson, based in Racine, provided the following statement:

“As a family company, nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of the families who use SC Johnson products. All of SC Johnson products are safe and effective when used as directed, as we take very seriously the responsibility of providing products that families can use with confidence.

“We are aware of this matter. We always monitor carefully our regional business operations to ensure we continue to adhere to all applicable regulations in the markets where we operate, and we are looking into the facts.”

In other SC Johnson news, the company announced today the new Ziploc brand bags with Easy Open Tabs. To celebrate the launch, the Ziploc brand has partnered with Tough Mudder Inc., an organization that puts on military-style obstacle course events.

The Ziploc Easy Open Tabs come in freezer, storage, and sandwich and snack bags.
