Social Innovation Prize nominations are being accepted

Nominations are being accepted for the fourth annual Social Innovation Prize in Wisconsin. The prize is awarded to an individual, over the age of 50, who has addressed critical social problems at the local regional or national level. The winner receives a $5,000 investment, and also selects a charitable organization that will receive an additional $5,000.
The award invests in their individual potential to contribute significantly to society.
The award was established in 2006 by honoring the vision of Fred Lindner. Lindner’s work with the elderly and his numerous contributions to the aging network locally and state wide motivated the Helen Bader Foundation, the Social Innovation Prize Planning Committee and the Fred Lindner family to establish the award to honor those with similar ambitions.
The Social Innovation Prize in Wisconsin planning committee is comprised of representatives from Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Inc., The Helen Bader Foundation, Ejj Olson & Associates, Milwaukee County Commission on Aging Advisory Council, UAW, and Wisconsin Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
All of the 2010 nominees will have their nominations forwarded to be eligible for the national Civic Ventures “The Purpose Prize.” The Purpose Prize provides five awards of $100,000 each to people over 60 with similar missions.
The deadline for nominations is midnight on Saturday, Aug. 31. The winner will be announced in September and an award luncheon will be held in October. For more information or to nominate an individual visit www.socialinnovationprize.org
