Brookfield-based accounting firm Sitzberger & Co. S.C. has added Glendale-based accounting practice Alan E. Matsoff S.C.
The transaction closed Oct. 22, and is structured on an earnout basis, with Sitzberger paying sole practitioner Alan Matsoff based on a percentage of earnings over time. Matsoff was a small practice with less than $200,000 in revenue, said Fred Sitzberger, founder of Sitzberger & Co.
Matsoff, who has been in practice for 50 years, will be absorbed into Sitzberger & Co.’s Glendale office, Sitzberger said.
Sitzberger & Co. now has 27 certified public accountants and 56 total employees. It has been growing via acquisitions over the past several years. In late 2017, Sitzberger acquired Glendale-based Bristol & Co. S.C. and Greenfield-based Athena Accounting & Tax LLC, and in 2016 it acquired Brookfield-based Gillis & Co. LLC.
