Shoe franchise hosts annual shoe drive and special guest

Stan’s Fit For Your Feet will host its fifth annual ‘Share-A-Pair’ shoe drive from Monday, Feb. 1 through Sunday, Feb. 28.

Stan’s Fit For Your Feet will host its fifth annual ‘Share-A-Pair’ shoe drive from Monday, Feb. 1 through Sunday, Feb. 28.  Since its inception, the drive has collected more than 75,000 pairs of new or gently used shoes and has donated them to Repairers of the Breach adult day shelter, Father Gene’s HELP Center in West Allis and Soles4Souls, a national not-for profit organization that has distributed more than 12.8 million pares of shoes to needy people in 125 countries around the world.
“We’ve been partnering with Soles4Souls for a long time, and we’re excited to be hosting this drive again,” said Jim Sajdak, owner of Stan’s Fit For Your Feet. “It’s part of the culture of our organization. We’ve been in business here for 60 years. It’s important for us to give back to the community that has given so much to us.”
Wayne Elsey, founder and chief executive officer of Soles4Souls, will also be in Milwaukee to help Stan’s celebrate the fifth anniversary of its shoe drive. Elsey recently published a book, Almost isn’t Good Enough, the human connection changes everything and will be hosting a book signing at Stan’s Glendale Store, 505 W. Silver Spring Drive, on Thursday, Feb. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. and at Stan’s Brookfield Store, 17155 W. Bluemound Road, on Friday, Feb. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m.
“His book tells an incredible story about his organization, philanthropy and how one person can help make a difference in the world,” Sajdak said. “We’re lucky enough to have him here to help us celebrate his vision.”
While in town, Elsey will visit Repairers of the Breach and some of the schools that have helped Stan’s collect shoes in the past, Sajdak said.
According to Sajdak, people who drop off shoes at designated locations during the month of February, will receive a $10 gift certificate to be used towards any adult footwear purchase, or a $5 gift certificate to be used towards any child footwear purchase throughout the month, as a way to say thanks.
“Share-A-Pair” collection bins will be located at Stan’s Brookfield Store, Stan’s Glendale Store and Stan’s Greenfield Sotre, 7405 W. Layton Ave. Special Share-A-Pair collections will also be held at Milwaukee Admirals games at the Bradley Center on Friday, Feb. 18 and Sunday, Feb. 20.
