Senate candidates to headline Newsmaker Luncheons

The four major Wisconsin candidates for U.S. Senate will be the featured guests at a series of upcoming Milwaukee Press Club Newsmaker Luncheons.
The Press Club announced the following Newsmaker Luncheons:

  • Monday, Jan. 23 – Former Wisconsin Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson.
  • Monday, Feb. 20 – Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin.
  • Monday, March 19 – Former Republican Congressman Mark Neumann.
  • Wednesday, March 21 – Republican State Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald.

Thompson, Neumann and Fitzgerald are competing in the Republican primary, which will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Baldwin is the only Democrat to declare candidacy for the seat to be vacated by Democrat Sen. Herb Kohl, who has announced he will retire.
The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The public is invited to attend each of the Newsmaker Luncheons featuring the Senate candidates, who will be interviewed by a panel of professional journalists. The luncheons will be moderated by BizTimes executive editor Steve Jagler.
Each the Newsmaker Luncheons will be held from 11:45 to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub in downtown Milwaukee at 137 E. Wells St.
The Milwaukee Press Club’s Newsmaker Luncheon Series is sponsored by Journal Communications and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Milwaukee Press Club presents the Newsmaker Luncheons to shed light on issues of the day. The public is invited to attend the luncheons. The cost to attend is $15 for MPC members, $20 for non-members, $10 for students. Lunch is included. Seating will be limited. Pre-registration and advance payment is required and may be done online at www.milwaukeepressclub.org.
