Seeking room to build, developers push close to Cabrini-Green

    As the downtown Chicago real estate boom races on, residential development sites are getting tougher to find and builders are scrambling to get into an area near the southern end of the Cabrini-Green public housing complex that offers something rare: plenty of places to build.

    The wave of projects just north of the River North neighborhood includes a high-rise apartment tower, smaller-scale rental deals and two condominium buildings, as well as a nearly finished townhouse project.
