Anne Schwartz, who most recently served as the communications director of the Milwaukee Police Department, has accepted a new position as the regional communications director of corporate communications for Wells Fargo Bank.
Schwartz is based in the downtown Milwaukee offices of Wells Fargo and will oversee communications for the bank in the Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio markets.
She is a 26-year veteran print and broadcast journalist, author and a nationally recognized trainer on the subject of strategic communication and public relations for emergency management professionals.
She was appointed communications director for the Milwaukee Police Department in 2004. She developed and commanded the department’s Office of Media & Communications for eight years under Police Chiefs Nannette Hegerty and Edward Flynn.
She co-authored, “Strategic Approaches to Improve Communications Initiative: A White Paper for Law Enforcement Executives” and “Strategic Communication: A Toolkit for Police Executives” (October 2011).
In 1991, as a reporter for the former Milwaukee Journal (now the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel), she broke the story of Milwaukee serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and later wrote the book, “The Man Who Could Not Kill Enough: The Story of Milwaukee’s Jeffrey Dahmer.”
