Racine-based Bukacek Construction LLC recently broke ground on a $24.5 million, 208,000-square-foot expansion project for Ruud Lighting, a subsidiary of Durham, N.C.-based Cree Inc., at Ruud’s headquarters and production facility in Sturtevant.
The current facility, located at 9201 Washington Ave., has 500,000 square feet of space. The project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2012. When the expansion is complete, Ruud will add 469 jobs at the plant. The company already has about 750 employees.
