Ronald McDonald House hosts pop tab collection day

Schools, girl scout troops, businesses, organizations and individuals will come together for Tab Toss Day at the Ronald McDonald House on Thursday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ronald McDonald is expected to make a special appearance from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Participants will donate their pop can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa as part of the event. The aluminum beverage pop tabs will be recycled and generate funds for the Ronald McDonald House.  In 2011, the year-long program raised nearly $25,000 for the organization.
At last year’s toss day, more than 350 people stopped by to drop off a total of 5,880 pounds of pop tabs.
“Collecting pop tabs may seem like a small task, but it provides an extremely significant contribution to the Ronald McDonald House each year,” said Lynda Kohler, Ronald McDonald House President.  “This united effort allows everyone the opportunity to get involved and feel good about helping families that rely on the House during a very difficult time in their lives.  The House relies on the generous support of the community.”
The Ronald McDonald House is projecting to raise nearly $29,000 this year making this the largest pop tab collection program in the Milwaukee Ronald McDonald House’s history.
