Rogers Behavioral Health this month will welcome patients into its new residential care center in Brown Deer.
The two-story, 24,000-square-foot building is connected to Rogers’ existing one-story inpatient care hospital at 4600 W. Schroeder Drive. The addition accommodates 32 beds with separate space for adults and adolescents. It’s the Oconomowoc-based mental health care provider’s third location to serve residential patients, in addition to West Allis and Oconomowoc, which were both expanded in 2019.
“It is our privilege to expand our residential services in Brown Deer as part of our high-quality, evidence-based treatment at this location,” said Amanda Boeke, vice president of residential services. “Offering expanded residential treatment means more people can benefit from Rogers’ continuum of care with better clinical outcomes and overall patient experience. The new center also helps to alleviate the high demand we are experiencing across the system for specialized mental health care.”
The center will provide specialized treatment services for depression, trauma, bipolar and other mood disorders, and co-occurring anxiety, personality, and substance use disorders.
Residential care offers an option for patients coming out of inpatient treatment, which typically lasts up to a week, to extend their treatment on campus for between 30 and 90 days, allowing more time and resources for recovery. Patients stay in a comfortable, home-like setting with a dining area, group rooms, semi-private bedrooms, recreation space and activity room, Rogers said.
Rogers recently held a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting for the Brown Deer project, which was first announced in April 2021.
The center was built by Menomonee Falls-based Moore Construction and Milwaukee-based Quorum Architects. Brookfield-based Trio Engineering was also involved in the project.
Speaking to BizTimes when the project was announced last spring, Derrick Jordan, Rogers’ vice president of operations in Brown Deer, noted that the mental health care provider has seen an increase in demand for behavioral health services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and the waitlists for residential services are growing. He said he expects the new center will have 85-90% occupancy throughout the year.
With this expansion, Rogers operates three inpatient behavioral health hospitals, 17 residential programs, eight outpatient centers, and a supportive living facility in Wisconsin.
Rogers continues to grow statewide and nationally. Last summer, it opened an outpatient clinic and supportive living facility in Sheboygan, and the new Ladish Co. Foundation Center on its Oconomowoc hospital campus. Rogers has expanded into several new markets since 2014, opening new outpatient centers in Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Skokie (Illinois), Tampa, Miami, St. Paul (Minnesota), San Diego, Los Angeles and Seattle. All told, Rogers has 20 outpatient clinics in nine states and will open a new location in Denver this fall.
