Road America to add vehicle storage buildings

Road America, the historic racetrack in Elkhart Lake, announced today that it plans to construct several buildings where active motorsports enthusiasts can store race vehicles, motorcycles and classic automobiles.

The concept, called Thunder Village, will be built under the trees on the hillside overlooking the racetrack’s Thunder Valley, which stretches between turn 12, known as Canada Corner, and turn 13.

Thunder Village currently has 18 sites in the initial phase and construction of the first units is expected to begin in mid-August.
The Thunder Village structures will range from 1,700 square feet to 2,600 square feet and will provide customizable garage areas that can also be used for entertaining family, business associates and friends. The customizable units may have two levels and will stress quality materials, workmanship and design – including concrete garage door aprons, in-floor heat and viewing patios. In addition, convenient and secure 24/7 access is available for Thunder Village occupants to come and go at their leisure.

Special track time is an option for an additional fee so every Thunder Village occupant can drive on the 4-mile Road America track when the event schedule permits.

“Every Thunder Village structure is part of a unique non-commercial, non-residential, long-term program where every Thunder Village occupant gets the chance to live their passion and enjoy their property as maintained by Road America standards,” said George Bruggenthies, president and general manager of Road America. “Occupants may transfer their units, but why would you want to give up your own piece of motorsports heaven and all its amenities plus the chance to enjoy one of the world’s greatest road racing circuits? The real question is, what will you do with your space?”

The 2014 Road America schedule is highlighted by the Gardner Denver 200 Fired Up By Johnsonville race on June 21, which is part of the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
