Restaurant planned in Menomonee Valley

Milwaukee restaurateur Russ Davis, who runs the Lakefront Palm Garden, The Red Accordian, Rio West Cantina and the Hubbard Park Lodge, plans to purchase a one-acre property with a 3,900-square-foot building at 1200 W. Canal St. in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley for $600,000. Davis plans to open a seafood restaurant in the building on the property.

The cost to remodel the building, currently used for storage, into a restaurant is estimated at $200,000. The cost to equip the building for a restaurant is estimated at $50,000.

The rest of the property will be used for boat storage, as it currently is. The property is located on the north side of Canal Street along the Menomonee River.

On Tuesday the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp. approved Davis’ request for a $225,000 loan for the project
