Home Industries Real estate profile: Robert Jansen

Real estate profile: Robert Jansen

president and co-founder, ForeclosuresWI.com LLC

Company: ForeclosuresWI.com LLC
Title: president and co-founder
Education: Bachelor of business administration from UW-Milwaukee (majors in finance, accounting and economics).
Family: "My significant other is Sarah. No children yet (in fact, I’m still working on popping the big question). I’m also very close to my sister, Nicole, who is actively involved in the business."
City of Residence: "Milwaukee’s Third Ward…such a fun area."
Hobbies and Interests: Cooking, travel, watercolor, minor home improvements…and monitoring foreclosures, of course.
What are you working on? "So many exciting things are happening. We are planning to aggressively expand in 2008, and Dane County is first on the list. We are also partnering with some really talented people to offer a foreclosure training course, which will teach people how to negotiate win/win deals with property owners facing foreclosure."
How does the market look to you? "You know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Foreclosures are hot and interest rates are low, what more could you ask for? In all seriousness though, people across the country have been impacted by the shakeout of the subprime mortgage crisis, and while there are many sides to that story, the bottom line is many people will lose their houses, which is very unfortunate. We see ForeclosuresWI.com as a critical link between people facing foreclosure and people who can potentially help them (our members include investors, realtors, and homebuyers). We expect foreclosures to remain at escalated levels at least through 2008."
What was the best deal you’ve ever been involved in? "Well, I make it a point not to compete with my customers, so I don’t personally buy properties in foreclosure. My biggest deal was actually buying out my partner a year ago. He wanted to go back to school and I wanted to run the whole show, so I bought him out and never looked back. Win/win and great decision!"
