Hundreds attend Hunzinger’s green building conference
More than 300 construction and design professionals attended the first green building conference last week hosted by Brookfield-based Hunzinger Construction Co. The conference was held in Hunzinger’s newly renovated training building, which is LEED platinum certified, the first building in the state and one of the first in the world to achieve that rating, according to the company. "This conference was a huge success," said John C. Hunzinger, president of Hunzinger Construction Co. "It is really great to see so many people take an interest in green building."

Selzer-Ornst receives safety award
Wauwatosa-based Selzer-Ornst Construction Co. recently received the Milwaukee Construction Industry Safety Council (MCISC) Safety Award for 2007 in the category of Perfect Safety Award, AGC Corporate. In addition, the company is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. 

Milwaukee County to host foreclosure workshop
Milwaukee County Treasurer Dan Diliberti, in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin Extension and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council will host a foreclosure workshop on Wednesday, May 21, at the Wauwatosa Library, 7635 W. North Ave. The workshop is designed to provide people who are behind on their mortgage or property tax payments with information on what they can do to avoid foreclosure.

Berghammer gains LEED accreditation
Butler-based Berghammer Construction Corp. announced that it has recently achieved 100 percent LEED accreditation, from the U.S. Green Building Council, among all of its project managers and estimators.
