Mid-America Real Estate-Wisconsin has been awarded exclusive leasing representation of Grafton Commons. The 400,000 square-foot retail development of 71 acres is located at I-43 and Highway 60 in the Village of Grafton. The shopping center is anchored by Costco, Kohl’s Department Store, Best Buy, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Mid-America is being retained by the joint venture of Continental Properties Company, Inc., and Fiduciary Real Estate Development, Inc.

The West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and the Wauwatosa Economic Development Corporation sent a letter to the Milwaukee County Board this week endorsing the proposal to sell 89 acres of county owned land at the County Grounds to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which plans do develop a graduate engineering research campus on the site, with some related private development.

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce recognized the best downtown revitalization projects of 2008 at the 19th Annual Wisconsin Main Street Awards. The state’s Main Street communities include, Lincoln Village (Milwaukee), Pewaukee, Port Washington, Sheboygan Falls, West Allis, West Bend and Whitewater.

The award recipients are as follows: Best Promotional Item, Historic Sheboygan Falls Rack Card, Sheboygan Falls Chamber/Main Street; Best Downtown Special Event, 2008 Maritime Heritage Festival, Maritime Heritage Festival Committee – Port Washington; Best Business Development Program, Business Recruitment Market Profile, Downtown Whitewater, Inc. Economic Restructuring Committee; Best Downtown Image Campaign/Event, Downtown Whitewater Commercial Co-op, Downtown Whitewater, Inc.; Best Historic Restoration Project, Ozaukee County Courthouse Restoration- Port Washington; Best Design Committee Project, co-winners, Streetscape Plan – Downtown West Bend Association, Sheboygan Falls Chamber Main Street, Main Street 20th Anniversary DVD – “Everything Old is New Again”; Best Façade Rehab Over $7,500, Milwaukee Bicycle Co. Vince Hanoski – Lincoln Village, Milwaukee; Best Public Improvement – Built Environment
