Real Estate Blog: Associated Bank to move HQ to downtown Green Bay

While City of Milwaukee officials were unable to convince Kohl’s to move its corporate headquarters from the suburbs to downtown, downtown Green Bay has just attracted a major headquarters relocation.

The Green Bay Press Gazette is reporting today that Associated Banc-Corp will move its headquarters from Ashwaubenon to downtown Green Bay. Details have not been worked out, but the company said Tuesday it is working with the city to find a site. An announcement with additional details could come as early as next week.

“Associated Banc-Corp has decided to move its headquarters to downtown Green Bay. Associated is working with a potential seller and the city of Green Bay on a plan to acquire property for offices in downtown Green Bay. No formal actions have been finalized at this time,” the statement said.

The move could involve more than 300 high-paying jobs coming to downtown Green Bay.

Last year I wrote an article that said that Associated Bank was considering plans to build a new corporate headquarters in downtown Green Bay. It was based on information I obtained from sources. After the article appeared an Associated Bank representative called and told me that the story was way off base.

But needless to say that story looks prescient now.
