Radiothon raises more than $1.3 million for Children’s Hospital

A 36-hour radiothon, now a tradition spanning 18 years, raised more than $1.3 million for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

The Dave & Carole Miracle Marathon, held May 21 and 22, collected funds through the generosity of Milwaukee’s Hometown Rock 96.5 WKLH listeners across southeastern Wisconsin. During the radiothon, the station broadcast live from Children’s Hospital as station commentators Dave Luczak and Carole Caine talked to patients’ families and hospital staff members about hospital programs and services for children.

“I am astounded by the generosity of Dave and Carole’s loyal listeners and our entire community,” Peggy Troy, chief executive officer, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, said in a press release. “Thank you to Dave and Carole and everyone at 96.5 WKLH, our courageous patient families who shared their very personal stories of hope and everyone who volunteered their time and donated money to help ensure that the kids in our community have access to the best care.”

Since the Dave & Carole Miracle Marathon launched in 1998, it has netted more than $22 million for Children’s Hospital.
