Milwaukee-based law firm Quarles & Brady LLP today announced Daniel Radler will become managing partner on December 1.
Radler, 57, succeeds Fredrick Lautz, 63, who has served as managing partner since the role was created in 2007, after firm chair Pat Ryan died. Lautz led Quarles’ expansion into Indianapolis; Tampa, Florida; and Washington, D.C. and recruited some of the country’s top attorneys to work at the firm. Lautz, who focuses on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance and securities, will remain in a recruitment and strategic growth role.
A company spokesperson said Lautz does not have plans to retire soon, but that the transition was a strategic decision by the executive committee as part of its succession planning process.
“Our approach to client service has always been to source talented attorneys in increasingly demanding regional markets and industry sectors, and then build offices around those practitioners,” Lautz said. “Dan is a brilliant attorney and tremendous leader, and I’m excited about the direction in which he’ll be taking the firm over the next several years.”
Radler has worked at Quarles & Brady for 19 years, serving in leadership roles such as national chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group and a member of the executive committee. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Marquette University, a degree in manufacturing systems engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a law degree from Marquette. Previously, Radler worked as an engineer of propulsion systems for advanced technology aircraft, as well as automated materials handling systems in warehouses. At Quarles & Brady, he focuses on intellectual property law, particularly patents and licensing.
