Milwaukee developer Robert Joseph has purchased a vacant 1-acre parcel of land across the street from the Walker’s Point Colectivo coffee shop with plans to eventually develop the site for office or residential.
“It’s a high profile corner certainly worthy of development, and I will develop it in due time,” said Joseph, founder of Joseph Property Development LLC. “If you want to be part of it, you have to get in the game and the good corners go early.”
Joseph purchased the site at 117 E. Pittsburgh under the LLC, Gateway 117 from long-time owner Pittsburgh Perch LLC, which is registered to Michael Pelsley, of Ferryville for $1 million, according to state records.
For the last 24 years, Joseph has been a prolific developer in Milwaukee. His recent projects include a $50 million six-story, mixed-use development he developed with General Capital Group in Shorewood that includes 95 apartments and will be the future home of the second Blue’s Egg location.
Joseph is also currently working on an 88-unit six-story apartment complex at the corner of East Ivanhoe and North Prospect avenues on Milwaukee’s East Side and is redeveloping the Jennaro Bros. building on Broadway in the Historic Third Ward into an office building with first floor retail.
Joseph has added windows to side of the building, sand blasted the interior and will begin adding a fifth story this month.
“It is as appealing as any Third Ward building I’ve done,” Joseph said. “I really love what I do and I believe the only way to do this is to be completely obsessed with it. I am fortunate to have a great team and I am very lucky.”
