ProHealth Care’s expanded and renovated Mukwonago emergency department is set to open on Monday. Located at the D. N. Greenwald Center campus at 240 Maple Ave., the updated emergency department was a $38 million investment.
The project consisted of a 65,651-square-foot addition and 10,492 square feet of renovations, according to a press release issued by ProHealth Care.
According to Mortenson Construction, the new addition includes:
* New receiving/storage/loading dock areas on the lower level.
* New and enhanced mechanical/electrical areas to support the emergency room department addition, as well as potential future vertical expansion.
* Decontamination areas on the main level.
* Dedicated spaces for law enforcement and EMS services.
* Four-vehicle, enclosed/heated ambulance garage.
* Twenty-five exam/treatment rooms, including behavioral health, bariatric, eye/ENT rooms, and trauma room with two-bed capacity.
* Office area including staff lounge and physicians’ area.
* Reception and entry area with covered exterior drop-off canopy.
* Expanded existing radiology to include new X-ray and Computed Tomography (CT) spaces.
* Green roof over expanded radiology area.
Renovations to the existing facility include:
* New lab in existing lower-level shelled space, including blood bank, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, histology, and urinalysis spaces.
* Expanded radiology into new expansion.
* New canteen/deli area in existing loading dock.
* Renovated and expanded pharmacy.
To celebrate the project completion and to offer a sneak peek, ProHealth Care held a ribbon cutting ceremony and community open house on June 27. Participants toured the emergency department, met the community’s new emergency services team, participated in interactive screenings and looked inside an ambulance.
