Private sector jobs fell in Wisconsin in June

The number of private sector jobs in Wisconsin fell in June by 11,700 and the state’s unemployment rate climbed to 7.0 percent from 6.8 percent in May, according to the latest seasonally adjusted data released today by the Department of Workforce Development.

The department also revised the estimated number of private sector jobs in Wisconsin in May to 2,328,000, up 1,200 from 2,326,800.
The employment sector sustaining the largest drop in jobs in June was service providing sector. The leisure and hospitality sector also lost 5,300 jobs.
The estimates were provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
