Pratt to take over as interim county exec

Marvin Pratt can now add interim Milwaukee county exec to his resume after a stint seven years ago as interim mayor.

Acting County Exec Lee Holloway has appointed the former Milwaukee Common Council president to serve as the interim county exec until the winner of the April election can be sworn in.

Holloway, the County Board chair, has been serving as county executive since Scott Walker resigned the post in late December to become governor. Under state statutes, he was required to appoint an interim executive to hold the post until a new executive can be sworn in following the April election.

It’s not the first interim title for Pratt. He became acting mayor in 2004 when John Norquist resigned his term three months early. Pratt later lost the mayor’s race to Tom Barrett, who has held the post since.

Holloway has sent a letter to county board members asking them to confirm the appointment.
