Potawatomi’s Heart of Canal Street brings in $1.16 million for local charities

Pathfinders Milwaukee receives $100,000

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino’s signature charity program Heart of Canal Street pulled in $1.16 million in 2018 to benefit 31 area children’s charities.

This year’s total exceeded last year’s, which raised $1.15 million.

As Potawatomi’s charity of choice, Pathfinders Milwaukee Inc. received $100,000. The funding will support the organization’s New Paths program, which provides services to youth affected by sex trafficking.

The other 30 charities will each receive more than $35,000. Twenty of the organizations were randomly selected for the program in November. They joined 10 signature charities previously selected by Potawatomi’s media partners in August.

Heart of Canal Street funds are raised primarily through Canal Street bingo games played during every bingo session from August through mid-December.

The 25th annual Heart of Canal Street campaign has certainly been an exciting and inspiring one for all of us at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino,” said Rodney Ferguson, chief executive officer and general manager. “None of these gifts would be possible without the vision and support for Heart of Canal Street from the Forest County Potawatomi community.”
