For Milwaukee-based Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, historic tribal values drive the business’ philanthropic efforts: Take only what you need and share the remaining bounty with others.

And that bounty has been plentiful.

The casino regularly invests in local nonprofit organizations through event sponsorships, team member engagement and volunteer projects.

Potawatomi has contributed more than $13.5 million to hundreds of local charities through its flagship charitable program, Miracle on Canal Street, since it was started in 1984.

Last year, the program raised more than $1 million, which was distributed to more than 150 local charities.

Several times each year, Potawatomi establishes and promotes volunteer opportunities for its employees. These opportunities include fixing homes in the community, walk/runs, collections and food drives.

Casino leaders serve on the boards of the Menomonee Valley Partners, Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling, Public Policy Forum, VISIT Milwaukee, Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful and several others.
