Potawatomi announces new CFO

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino has promoted Sheryl Schnering to chief financial officer.

Schnering has served as director of accounting at the casino since August 2008 with oversight of accounting, payroll and revenue audit functions.

In her new role, she will run all financial activities at the casino with an eye on operating results, profitability and financial performance. Schnering will also handle casino cage operations and materials management.

“Over the last seven years, Sheryl has built a knowledgeable team and worked on cross training the department,” Mike Goodrich, general manager of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, said in an announcement. “As CFO, I’m confidence Sheryl will continue to move our strategic initiatives forward.”

Schnering is a veteran of the accounting industry with close to three decades of professional experience. Before jumping aboard the casino, she served as controller at the American Society for Quality.

She belongs to the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
