    A Chicago-based hedge fund manager paid nearly $1.78 million last month for a 42-acre Barrington Hills farm slated for redevelopment.

    The buyer, Jan-Dirk Lueders of CMT Asset Management, applied for a special-use permit to convert some of the property on Old Sutton Road to an indoor/outdoor polo field, said listing agent John Morrison of RE/MAX of Barrington.
