Should Mark Neumann continue campaign to challenge Scott Walker for the Republican gubernatorial nomination?
BizTimes Milwaukee asked its readers that question this week after the news broke about Republican insiders putting pressure on Newman with step aside to clear the path for Walker.
Neumann vowed to continue his bid, saying the people, not the “Republican big wigs,” should select the party’s nominee.
When the BizTimes poll question was posted, the campaigns and followers of both candidates bombarded the web site. After several swings, the poll ended with 7,326 votes being cast. In the end, 54 percent of the respondents said Neumann should continue his campaign, and 46 percent said he should withdraw.
The poll is by no means scientific, but it reflects the chasm in the state’s GOP ranks.
