Planned job cuts by Illinois companies jump 25% in March

    Illinois-based employers announced 1,794 job cuts in March, a 25 percent jump from February, but an 11 percent decline from March 2011, Chicago-based outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas said Thursday.

    The biggest cuts were announced by R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. with 207 and Midwest Generation with 180.
