Pine Haven starts certified nursing assistant program

Sheboygan Falls-based Pine Haven Christian Communities recently launched a resident assistant to certified nursing assistant program, a new career development program for its employees.

“As the demand for certified nursing assistants (CNAs) continues to increase, we felt that both our residents and our staff would benefit from a program that encourages those who have not yet obtained their certification to take that next step in their career,” said chief executive officer Ron Walvoort.

The new career building program will allow individuals who have been resident assistants for at least three months and who are willing to make a commitment to achieve their certification within one year to work at Pine Haven Christian Communities while they complete a CNA course at an appropriate learning organization. Pine Haven will pay for the individual’s course tuition, books and test fee. The staff member is also eligible to receive up to $500 in bonus for completing their course and passing the CNA exam.

“It’s a great chance to learn on the job, as every RA will be scheduled to work with experienced CNA staff,” said human resources director Lori Albsmeier. “Our goal is always to support our staff and help them to grow and succeed. We’re pleased to roll out this new program as part of our career ladder for direct care.”
