Pfister renovating rooms in tower

The Marcus Corp. is spending about $3.1 million on a renovation project of the 173 guest rooms in the tower section of the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.

All of the rooms in the tower are being renovated except the three presidential suites, said hotel general manager Paul Ohm.

The Pfister’s Hotel opened in 1893. Its tower section was built in 1963. The rooms in the tower were last renovated about 10 years ago, Ohm said.

“The product in there is 10 years old,” he said. “It’s dated.”

The room renovations include new floors, carpet and new furniture. Bathrooms will be extensively renovated and upgrades will include new stand up marble showers, new vanities and separate water closets.
