Pewaukee software firm gears up
National launch of sales prospecting tool under way

By Charles Rathmann, of SBT

While much of the tech sector remains mired in an economic slump, Donato Diorio is launching new products and divisions of his Pewaukee company.
Diorio, president of Specialized Search International Corp., recently hired a 10-person management team with solid gold resumes to launch Broadlook, a software package designed to assemble targeted sales prospect lists from the Web.
Using methods similar to search engine "robots" that catalog the content of the Web, Broadlook "spiders" company Web sites to collect contact information and business news.
Broadlook allows a user to target companies by size, industry and other criteria. The program is elegant enough to have won accolades, including the Best New Product of the Year Award from salesheads.com, a job board for sales professionals.
Diorio’s dream team includes veterans of the national and international high-tech sector, including vice president of western sales Daniel Hughes. Hughes’ resume includes stints with Hewlett-Packard and small software companies, including Speedware and Intersolv.
In 1998, Hughes co-founded Utour.com, which, according to Diorio, pioneered the digital walk-through function found on many residential real estate Web sites.
Diorio also has in his corner vice president of marketing Peter Geisheker, who brings experience from Dedham, Mass.-based EDP Contract Services and Boulder, Colo.-based CallCenterCareers.com, where he quadrupled his company’s revenue in 120 days.
Broadlook (www.broadlook.com) is operating as a division of Diorio’s company – Specialized Search. Software solutions are a relatively new addition to Specialized Search’s offerings. The company was founded to recruit technical professionals for companies from around the nation, and operates several skill-based job boards, including delphisearch.com, javasearch.com, SAPsearch.com, DBAsearch.com and QAsearch.com.
Last year, Diorio launched Browseman, a new Web browser designed specifically for business users. The application operates as a plug-in within Microsoft Internet Explorer and includes a kit that allows developers to create specialized versions of the browser for specific businesses or industries.
Web search tools specifically for the recruiting industry are already available through the company, and other vertical offerings are expected.
