Public Relations

Milwaukee-based Nelson Schmidt Inc. has hired Jordon Frauen and Alysha Witwicki as copywriters in its Milwaukee office. Frauen and Witwicki will be responsible for producing copy for advertising campaigns, sales collateral and websites for agency clients. Frauen’s most recent experience copywriting in an agency setting was at Rocket Clicks in Menomonee Falls. He was also a writer for brass MEDIA Inc., across its editorial properties. Prior to joining the agency, Witwicki worked at Reader’s Digest in the creative marketing department and was a copywriter at a Milwaukee-based firm.

Milwaukee-based Scheibel Halaska has added Allison Kubacki as account coordinator. Prior to joining Scheibel Halaska, Kubacki gained experience managing public relations and media relations, corporate grassroots campaigns, event planning and advocacy outreach for a variety of state and national accounts at a small public affairs/PR firm based in Green Bay and Madison.

The Ritterbusch Group, Brookfield, has promoted Marc Whitney to account supervisor. Whitney has more than 20 years of marketing and public relations experience in a wide range of industries, including health care, sports and membership associations.

Zizzo Group Marketing + PR + New Media, Milwaukee, has promoted Sue Colegrove to executive vice president of integrated marketing as part of the firm’s newly organized integrated marketing practice. She has been with Zizzo Group for 17 years. Geri Weiland has also been promoted to vice president of Integrated Marketing. In addition, Tom Flierl has been promoted to senior vice president of business development and Carrie Chapko has been promoted to senior art director at Zizzo Group.

Milwaukee-based 7Summits has hired Jay Matusin and Scott Drenner as project managers, Garret Starke as senior lead developer and Gail Dunlap as office manager.

Architecture

Bray Architects has added Anthony Tislau, to the firm’s Sheboygan office as team leader. Tislau has design experience for commercial, educational, industrial, day care and restaurant buildings from his previous positions with architecture firms in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Building & Construction

Berghammer Construction Corp., Butler, has named Andy Greco a field project superintendent for the company. Greco ha 11 years of experience in construction and previous roles as a superintendent with Horizon Construction and J.P. Cullen & Sons, Inc.

Madison-based Tri-North Builders has promoted Holly Hawkins to president of the firm’s Milwaukee operations. Hawkins has 12 years of experience in the construction industry with expertise in sustainable construction, public speaking, and commercial projects including health care, large corporate headquarters, and public work.

Child Care Services

Ebenezer Child Centers with locations in downtown Milwaukee, on Milwaukee’s southside, in Greenfield, Mequon, Oak Creek, and Wauwatosa has named its 2012 Board of Directors. They include: Nicole Druckrey, partner, Quarles & Brady; Michael Dzick, program developer, ASQ Learning Offerings; Mark Rakowski, executive director, Community Health Plan; Suzy Endres, state scheduler for U.S. Senator Herb Kohl; Ellen Basting Dizard, senior attorney, ManpowerGroup; Kersten Larson, equity analyst, Wells Capital Management; Jim Meler, vice president Industrial Division, Quest Co.; Dan Rado, CPA, Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP; and Peter Todd, program manager/owner’s agent, The Boldt Company.

Education

Wisconsin Lutheran College has hired Sarah Malchow as annual giving and constituent relations officer in the office of development. She previously served as the communications and development coordinator at the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon.

The Industrial Designers Society of America Midwest District recently awarded the 2012 Midwest Honors Award for education excellence to Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) associate professor of Industrial Design John Caruso.

Celeste Meyers has been named director of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Office of Charter Schools. Robert J. Kattman, who has headed the office since 2001, is retiring at the end of June. UWM’s Office of Charter Schools currently oversees 11 charter schools, independent Milwaukee public schools, which are authorized by the Board of Regents under state legislation. A 12th school is being added in the fall of 2013. Meyers has more than 15 years of experience in urban education, working with traditional district schools, alternative schools, and charter schools.

Charles Swoboda has been elected chair of the Marquette University Board of Trustees. Swoboda is chairman and chief executive officer of Cree Inc. He joined Marquette University’s Board of Trustees in 2004 and served as vice chair from 2011 to 2012. Swoboda will replace Darren R. Jackson, who served his full term as chair of the board from 2009 to 2012. Jackson will remain on the university’s board of trustees.

Engineering

Beau Sanders, associate and project manager at Milwaukee-based GRAEF, has earned his California Structural Engineer License. Sanders is one of only nine engineers from Wisconsin that hold this designation. In the State of California, qualified professional engineers must hold a California Structural Engineer License in order to design public schools and hospitals. Only professional engineers that pass the 16-hour exam and obtain licensure as a structural engineer can legally design these facilities. According to the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, only 94 of the 329 engineers who took the test in 2011 passed.

Waukesha-based Hydro-Thermal Corp. has hired Thomas Tellefson as its new CFO.  Tellefson is responsible for the company’s financial planning and reporting, including human resource records, working with financial and legal partners, and for being a resource to operations and production. Tellefson joins Hydro-Thermal most recently from The Brewer Company in Menominee Falls. The Brewer Company is a medical capital goods manufacturer.   

Health Care

Elizabeth Bedwell has been named vice president of research administration for Children’s Research Institute, a member of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Bedwell has been with Abbott Laboratories since 1995, serving most recently as associate director of clinical planning and resource management. She was responsible for oversight, planning and forecasting across a $1 billion pharmaceutical research portfolio.

Froedtert Health Menomonee Falls Clinic announces the addition of gastroenterologist physician Dr. Cris Canga to its medical staff. Gastroenterologists are physicians who specialize in diseases of the stomach and intestine. Canga earned his medical degree from Cebu College of Medicine in Cebu, Philippines. He completed his internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and his GI fellowship at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee. He is board-certified in gastroenterology.

Lynn Dunn, director of mental health and advanced practice and the Magnet Recognition Program at Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital, has been elected to the American Hospital Association’s Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Governing Council.

Hospitality & Entertainment

Hyatt Regency Milwaukee has named Paul Sharp as its new director of sales and marketing. Sharp has worked for hotels throughout the country including The Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., the Hilton Alexandria (Va.) Mark Center and Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, Va. He has more than 23 years of experience in hotel sales and operations.

Manufacturing

MRPC has hired Kevin Hammes and Fred Loken as engineers. The additions contribute to a period of record growth for the 91-year-old-company that has seen 54 hires in the past 10 months. Hammes has been hired as a process engineer and Loken has been hired as a project engineer.

Professional Services

Patrick Sullivan has been named president of MahlerClean, the commercial cleaning division of Milwaukee-based Mahler Enterprises Inc.

Technology

Katie Gardapee has been hired as a project coordinator for Milwaukee-based Red Arrow Labs. She previously served as a sales and sourcing specialist at Milwaukee-based New Resources Consulting.
