Packers president Mark Murphy on London games, COVID communication and more

Mark Murphy, president of the Green Bay Packers, joined the Rotary Club of Milwaukee’s Tuesday program recently to discuss developments with the team on and off the field.

Murphy discussed the challenges created by a shrinking salary cap, the desire to keep Aaron Rodgers as the team’s quarterback and how restructuring the front office helped improve communications.

He also details why the team was reluctant to play games internationally and why the addition of a 17th game to the season means the Packers will likely be playing a game in London in the next nine years.

Murphy also covered how the teams players are involved in spreading the word about COVID-19 vaccines, the potential incentives for players to get vaccinated and some of the communication challenges created by the pandemic.
