Marcus announces more movies for families with special needs
Marcus Theatres and Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin recently announced the remaining film titles in its “Reel Movies for Real Needs” film series for 2010. The series is designed for families of special-needs children with autism or other challenges who seldom attend the movies. The “Reel Movies for Real Needs” program creates a welcoming and comfortable environment for special needs children by offering family films with a lower sound volume and brighter lighting for families who may not feel comfortable attending regularly scheduled shows.  All movies in the series begin at 10:30 a.m.
Upcoming movie dates and titles will include:
Saturday, Nov. 27 Tangled
Saturday, Dec. 18, Yogi Bear

Parenting Network needs you to volunteer
The Parenting Network is seeking volunteers interested in leading parent education and support groups at locations throughout Milwaukee County.
“We have the greatest need for men to facilitate groups for fathers,” said Jan Buchler, executive director of The Parenting Network. “There is a demand in the community to meet the needs of dads and The Parenting Network can accomplish this with a few excellent volunteers who have the time and energy to make this commitment.”
The Network is looking for volunteers to assist with programs including: Dad Matters, a weekly educational group for dads; InsideOut Dad, a parent education program for incarcerated dads; and a Circle of Parents support group for new parents.
Volunteers will become fully trained on facilitating or co-facilitating groups of parents and caregivers using an evidence-based curriculum. Volunteer facilitators must be willing to commit to at least two hours per week for a full year.
Facilitation Skills Training will be held at The Parenting Network, 7516 W. Burleigh St., and is open to volunteers and professionals. The training runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30 and Wednesday, Dec.1 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided. Coakley to host city-wide food drive
C.H. Coakley, has launched its second annual Dinner on the Mayflower, a city-wide food drive that will utilize the company’s Mayflower moving division as support. The drive will benefit Hunger Task Force’s Food for Families program.
“This has been another challenging year for many Milwaukee-area families and we want to stay involved where we are needed the most,” said Michael Coakley, managing partner of C.H. Coakley. “Helping those who are hungry is at the top of our list and we hope to reach our goal of collecting 20,000 non-perishable food items from across the city, so we can help Hunger Task Force meet the increased demand for food.”
Companies interested in participating in Dinner on the Mayflower can hold a food drive at their facility and not have to coordinate logistics of pickup and delivery of food barrels. To participate contact Liz Williams, event coordinator at 414-372-7000. Food barrels will be delivered on Monday, Nov. 8 and will be picked up on Thursday, Nov. 18.
