Brewers freeze ticket prices for 2011
The Milwaukee Brewers today announced they will not change their ticket prices for 2011.
The price freeze will be in effect for all tickets, including both season and single game tickets.
“Every member of the Milwaukee Brewers organization, from ownership and staff to the players, is extraordinarily grateful for the tremendous fan support we receive,” said Rick Schlesinger, Brewers executive vice president of business operations. “In return, we want to continue providing one of the most affordable experiences in Major League Baseball. One of Mark Attanasio’s original pledges when he purchased the team was to deliver the best fan experience possible, and this is another step toward delivering on that promise.”
In 2010, the Brewers were ranked by Team Marketing Report’s annual survey as the eighth most-affordable fan experience in all of Major League Baseball. With today’s announcement, it is likely that the Brewers will improve upon that ranking for 2011. For 2010 and 2011, the Brewers average ticket price is $22.10.
Drop off your worn out flags at North Shore Bank
North Shore Bank, Brookfield, has announced it will conduct its annual worn and tattered flag collection now until Sunday, Oct. 31. The Bank is working with Exchange Clubs, the American Legion and local Boy Scout troops to honorably dispose of the flags on Veterans Day.
“Many people don’t know how to properly dispose of tattered or torn flags, and working with the Exchange Clubs, the American Legion and the Scouts gives North Shore Bank the opportunity to help our customers and neighbors do so in a responsible, respectful and patriotic manner,” said Sue Doyle, vice president of branch administration. “North Shore Bank has a strong tradition of involvement within the communities where we operate, and we are honored to sponsor this flag collection program for the ninth year in a row.”
Damaged and worn flags will be collected at all North Shore Bank offices throughout eastern Wisconsin, including the Maritime Savings Bank branches now operated by North Shore Bank. For locations, visit northshorebank.com.
The flags will be properly retired in Veteran’s Day ceremonies in November.
Milwaukee Public Market celebrates five years
The Milwaukee Public market will celebrate its five year anniversary during a celebration this weekend Saturday, Oct. 16 and Sunday, Oct. 17 at the main market building, 400 N. Water St.
The event will feature vendor specials including $10.95 lobster dinners from St. Paul Fish Company, and $5 build your own pita sandwiches from PitaWorks. Margarita Paradise will also offer $5 margaritas to customers.
“The 5 Year Anniversary Celebration is for people of all ages,” said Market spokesperson, Paul Schwartz. “The Market’s success over the last few years is attributed to the loyal customers who walk through our doors each and every day. Providing a weekend of live entertainment for all ages, along with quality food products at phenomenally reasonable prices, is the least we can do to show our patrons how much we appreciate them after 5 years.”
Award winning chef and cook book author, Clay Erickson will prepare a batch of his Cajun Seafood Soup on Saturday at 12 p.m. and will also be available for book signing. Festivities for families and kids include pumpkin bowling, live music and art exhibitions from local artist Anita Burgermeister, Bela Roongta Eitel and Melanie Ariens.
According to Schwartz, the market has seen an increase in overall sales and customer traffic, due to many of the markets vendors being nominated for the 2010 Best of food categories.
“We are on track to have a record breaking year for overall sales,” said Schwartz. “We have the perfect mix of vendors right now, and we feel that mix has solidified our status as one of the most unique downtown food destinations.”
Earlier this year, the Market announced Diablos Rojos, LLC Collection of Grand Cafes including Trocadero, Cafe Hollander and Cafe Centraal, will open a "European Market/Cafe" that will replace the former Good Harvest store at the Market’s building across from the main Market at 346 N. Broadway St., around the beginning of next year.
